WoodLoch Adventure

Pocono Escape

Had a few days off in the middle of the week and decided to spend some time with my wife.  We scoured the internet for a place to escape our daily routine.  We wanted something different with no interruptions.  We finally settled on the Woodloch Resort.  We have no regrets.  After a 2 hour drive north of Ambler, pa we arrived at a charming Family resort.  We immediately felt bad for not bringing the kids.  It is a family report!  It was a quiet time of the year and didn't mind being the only middle aged couple without the family.  We had our alone time, there were no crowds, and the weather was perfect.  We had a blast!

My wife and I hiking along the Teedyuckung Lake!

I had the opportunity to get some "Me" time and explore some of the surrounding natural areas.  The video above captures me running along a small stream on some PA State Game Land.

I couldn't resist and decided to take a long Bike Ride!  Not only is the scenery beautiful but it is secluded.  I don't remember seeing anyone for the 15 mile bike ride.

It was nearly 75 degrees during the second week of March and we had the opportunity to sled down a hill!

I shot some rounds down range.

She shot some rounds down range.

We climbed a cliff!

i rode my bike a lot!

We had a great time.  We are already planning our next trip with the kids.  I think this might be a yearly tradition!

Winter Commute

My Winter Commute

It was a 60 degree day in the middle of February.  How could I not bike to work?  We had a huge snow storm a few weeks ago followed by a period of dryness.  My hope was that the trails would be clear.  I was wrong, but fortunate!

I recently purchased a new bike from Nashbar.  Its a Cross Bike Frame with 32 mm wheels.  Perfect for road, dirt, and gravel.  I finally have it put together, adjusted and made it ride worthy.  I added  a few accessories including a Thule  Rack and Pedal (review to follow).

I woke early so that I can get the family ready so that I can do what I wanted to do.  Packed my work gear, lunch, and all my ride stuff into one bag.  Pumped 85 psi into the tires and rode to the YMCA.  Had a quick 1400 meter swim and took the shower.  I was ready for work and a bike ride.

Despite the 60 degree dry weather the trail was wet with stubborn snow drift.  I thought they had melted days ago.  Fortunately, the bike handled well.  The thicker tires did the job.  I was riding over gravel, through the mud, and over snow.  My only hesitation was the felled tree that blocked the trail.  I Shouldered the bike, leaped over the wreckage, and was riding in no time.  Great obstacle.

The commute home as just as sloppy.  Lots of mud but lots of sun!
